Residential High-Rise Slated for Los Angeles' Westside for First Time in 40 Years

The project will include a ground-level pocket park.

A Gensler-designed 34-story residential tower currently under construction on Los Angeles's Westside is poised to become the area's first residential high-rise in nearly 40 years.

Located west of the 405 Freeway, the 376-unit tower is being spearheaded by developers Douglas Emmett and includes a 40,000-square-foot (3,716-square-meter) ground-level privately owned and managed pocket park designed by SWA Group.

Urbanize.la reports that the project construction recently went vertical on the site of the future tower, which is located adjacent to the Barrington Plaza highrises, one of which caught fire earlier this year.

The under-construction tower will include a mix of studio, one, and two-bedroom units, as well as 19 affordable housing units.

Renderings for the tower depict a glass-wrapped tower studded with wide balconies. The project's pocket park will feature splash pads, shaded areas, seating, and a lawn.
