The second stage of a residential complex in San José will begin construction thanks to a new agreement with a local group.

The 23-story Azenza Tower 2, part of the Azenza Towers complex, will begin development during the first quarter of 2020, which will allow its residents to enjoy connectivity between the Uruca and Sabana Norte Districts of the city.

For this stage, approximately US$16 million is being invested and is part of the trend of urban densification and a greater presence of vertical housing.

The project consists of 16,000 square meters of space and will house 154 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, with a minimum of 51 square meters for each unit. Its location in the Uruca District, near the central part of the city, will connect residents to nature through a nearby 2.4-kilometer network of shared-use trails on the banks of the Torres River. The trails will be built thanks to an agreement with the local organization Natural Routes. Amenities within the towers will include a gym, gaming room, business center, pool, clubhouse, yoga deck, a rooftop lounge, co-working area, pet park, and retail space.

The project will also have energy-efficiency features to help reduce the building’s carbon footprint. The building’s design will encourage cross-ventilation, while motion-activated lights will help reduce electricity consumption in communal areas. Recycling will be separated into different categories, and all units will include water-efficient plumbing, which will result in a 30 percent reduction in water consumption.
