Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum and representatives from PCI Developments, TransLink, and the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the King George Hub to mark its official opening Thursday, 19 September, 2022.

A partnership between PCI Developments, the developers of the King George Hub, and Translink was also announced at the ceremony. Starting in October 2022, and for three months afterwards, PCI Developments will give 250 pre-loaded fare cards to people that live and work at the new development. Each card will have a value of CA$150 (US$111.2) and those who receive them will take a survey both before and after the program to study the impacts of subsidized transit on the choice to take transit said Translink in a press release.
