Proposal Doubles Height and Density to Meet Toronto Housing and Transit Goals
Plans have been resubmitted for 1705 Weston Road, proposing a 43-story mixed-use high-rise, doubling the height from the original submission of a 23-story design in 2020. Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the site is a minute's walk from Weston GO and UP Express station, aligning with Provincial goals for Major Transit Station Areas and the HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan. The development spans four lots at 1693-1709 Weston Road and 10 Victoria Avenue East, replacing existing low-rise buildings with 549 residential units, including 15 rental replacement and 6 affordable units.
The proposed building will reach 149.6 meters, revising the 2020 height of 84.55 meters, with a total Gross Floor Area of 33,933 square meters, including 505 square meters of ground-floor retail. The project features 1,192 square meters of indoor amenities and 1,600 meters of outdoor spaces. Two underground parking levels will provide 55 resident and 31 visitor spaces, to be paired with extensive bicycle parking. The site offers direct access to Weston station, UP Express, local bus routes, and the Humber River Recreational Trail.
The new proposal reflects the trend of increasing height and density in the Weston area, joining nearby developments and responds to evolving urban needs, emphasizing transit connectivity and housing density.
