Plans Resubmitted for Three-Tower Design in Toronto
Plans for a mixed-use development at 660 Eglinton Avenue East and 278 Bessborough Drive in Toronto’s Leaside neighborhood have been resubmitted. Designed by Turner Fleischer Architects, the proposal includes three residential high-rises ranging from 32, 37, and 43 stories, and will feature retail space at ground level and a new public park.
The 0.95 hectare site, formerly home to Sunnybrook Plaza, sits across from Leaside station on the Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown LRT. The project aligns with provincial efforts to increase density in major transit station areas.
Positioned east to west atop five and six-story podiums, a mid-block pedestrian walkway connects the structures. With a total Gross Floor Area of 84,134 square meters, 82,675 square meters are dedicated to residential use and 1,460 square meters will be for retail. The development will introduce 1,201 residential units, with the tallest building containing 460 rental units and the other two buildings bringing a total of 741 condominiums.
Amenities will include 1,898 square meters of indoor facilities and 1,742 square meters of outdoor terraces and green roofs. Parking will be provided in a two-level underground garage and a two-level above-grade structure, with car and bicycle parking for residents and visitors.
The rental tower will be constructed first, followed by the condominium buildings. The proposal is part of a broader trend of high-rise development along the Eglinton corridor, with multiple high-rises planned or under construction at nearby sites.
