Philadelphia’s Children’s Hospital Receives $125 Million for New Inpatient Tower
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has received a 125 million USD donation from Aileen K. and Brian Roberts and their family to support the construction of a new 20-story inpatient tower. The donation, the largest in the hospital’s 170-year history, will also contribute to the revitalization of existing hospital facilities.
Named Roberts Children’s Health in recognition of the family’s contribution, the new medical high-rise will feature over 700 private rooms, more than 30 procedure and imaging rooms for cardiology, neurology, and other specialties, and automated medication delivery. It will also include family amenities suites, enhancing the experience for patients and their families. The facility is scheduled to open in 2028.
The Roberts family have been longtime supporters of CHOP, previously donating 25 million USD in 2016 to establish the Roberts Center for Pediatric Research and the Roberts Collaborative for Genetics and Individualized Medicine. Brian Roberts serves as chair and CEO of Comcast, while Aileen Roberts is a member of CHOP’s board.
Hospital leadership emphasizes that Roberts Children’s Health will advance pediatric care by integrating the latest medical innovations and improving the hospital environment for both patients and staff.
