A tenants union, residents, environmental groups and various campaigners have asked one of Scotland's biggest social housing landlords to rethink plans to demolish four high-rise towers at the heart of a Glasgow housing estate. Wheatly, the landlord, said that the existing apartments were in "low demand." Environmental groups have asked if retrofitting was considered instead. The Wyndford Tenants Union cited fears that the social housing will be replaced with homes that price out residents, adding to the strain of the housing crisis.

The towers have been earmarked for demolition since 2021 when landlord Wheatley Homes Glasgow (formerly Glasgow Housing Association) informed residents of its plans for a £54 million redevelopment (US$59 million) of the Wyndford Estate in Maryhill, north-west of the city.
