One of Japan's Largest Hotels to House Coronavirus Patients in Yokohama

On 10 April 2020, hotelier APA Hotels & Resorts announced that the APA Hotel & Resort Yokohama Bay Tower will be leased out to Kanagawa Prefecture to provide beds for coronavirus patients with light or no symptoms. The 37-story hotel is located on the Yokohama waterfront. With 2,311 rooms, it is among the largest hotels in Japan based on room count. 

It opened in September 2019 and existing guests were checked out by 18 April 2020. The prefecture will be leasing the entire building from 20 April 2020 through to the end of August 2020. 

APA is also leasing the 223-room APA Hotel Saitama Shintoshin Eki-Kita to Saitama Prefecture for mild coronavirus patients from 15 April 2020 until the end of August 2020.

On 7 April 2020, the Tokyo government began moving mild coronavirus patients into the Tokyo Inn Tokyo Station Shin-Ohashi hotel in Hamacho. The 208-room hotel will eventually accommodate 100 patients. Tokyo Inn will be providing five hotels across the country for patients including hotels at Kitakyushu, Chub International, and Narita airports.
