Oil Company Vacates Two Suburban Houston Office Buildings
In 2013, Exxon signed a lease for two buildings in the Hughes Landing complex located in The Woodlands, Texas. Now, the company is looking to close these Houston-area offices and relocate workers to the main Houston-area campus which is a few miles away. This change is coming after the company announced a major job cut of 1,900 United States employees last year.
1725 Hughes Landing Boulevard is the eastern building that stands 61.6 meters (202 feet) tall and contains 13 floors. The western building, 1735 Hughes Landing Boulevard, is slightly shorter at 57.9 meters (190 feet tall) with 12 floors. Together the two towers could support more than 1,400 employees.
Tax abatements that were granted to the company when they first moved into the buildings have complicated the move. Exxon is currently negotiating a way to end its obligations early.
