The hospitality firm said that the new hotel will be the first Grand Hyatt hotel in Mecca and the second hotel in Saudi Arabia. Under the contract, Hyatt Hotels will be responsible for the development and construction of the new hotel, which is scheduled to open in January 2025.

Hyatt Hotels stated that the interiors of the new hotel will be integrated with materials and artwork that represents Islamic tradition while maintaining the detailed design and luxurious services synonymous with the Grand Hyatt brand.

“One of our key ambitions is also to add value to the local real estate market, and by introducing globally renowned brands we are making significant strides towards achieving this objective,” said Umm Alqura for Development and Construction CEO Yasser Abuateek.

“The Kingdom’s plan is to attract more than 30 million tourists by 2030 and we are proud to be able to contribute to this vision,” said Hyatt Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Southwest Asia group president Peter Fulton.

“Grand Hyatt Mecca is set to become a captivating destination of its own, welcoming both visitors and pilgrims to this important cultural and religious destination,” he added.

The hotel's completion is planned for 2025.
