Construction recently started in Nairobi for two 22-story high-rises that will eventually house the Tanzanian embassy.  Plans for the 88.75 meter project were announced by the Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in June 2024 and this investment highlights the strengthening economic ties between Tanzania and Kenya and underscores Tanzania's commitment to commercial diplomacy within the East African Community.

The twin buildings are located in Upper Hill, Nairobi, and in addition to holding the Tanzanian embassy, it will have residences and offices. The project, a collaboration between Tanzania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NSSF, aims to save on rental expenses and generate foreign currency for the government. The project is expected to enhance the Nairobi skyline and become a symbol of Tanzanian-Kenyan relations.

Featured Buildings

Intentions by the Tanzanian government are to develop these assets using professional real estate entities to improve embassy quality and generate income. Currently, Tanzania spends TZS 29 billion annually on embassy rentals but expects to earn TZS 36 billion per year from these new investments.  The goveernment additionally has plans to develop properties in Lusaka, London, and New York City in the future.
