A Romanian entrepreneur and shopping mall-magnate, Iulian Dascalu, wants to expand his Iulius Mall project with two new high-rise office buildings. The Iulius Mall Iași was one of the first shopping malls in the country.

The Iași city government will discuss granting a Zonal Urban Plan (PUZ) for the expansion and according to documents, the project will add a 26-floor tower that will be 120 meters high. The tower would be located in the mall’s current parking area and will most likely house offices, in line with Dascalu’s other projects, which are a mix of shopping and office spaces. The land that will be developed has over 32,000 square meters.

The mall is also located next to the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, providing a nearby pool of potential workers for companies who would use the office space.

Iulian Dascalu has another skyscraper under development, a 155-meter-tall office building in the Iulius Town project in Timișoara, dubbed “United Business Center 0,” which could become the tallest building in Romania when completed, upon verification by CTBUH. The current record is held by the 137-meter Floreasca City Sky Tower office building in Bucharest.
