Construction on Masters Tower Cebu in Cebu got underway on 14 September. The US$80 million (PHP4 billion) project from Cebu Landmasters Inc. plans to reach to 172 meters, with a crown-like structure on top.

Designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill, in collaboration with GF & Partners Architects, the building will feature a shingled façade composed of glass and aluminum forms painted to resemble textured wood.

The project will house the 195-room Sofitel Cebu City on floors 14 to 31, while office space will take up the 8th to 12th floors.

The project is targeting LEED Gold certification. Each floor will feature sky gardens as well as louvers on to help reduce solar heat gain. On the 16th floor, the hotel’s sky lobby will feature an atrium maximizing natural light.

Project completion is anticipated in 2025.
