Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) Merdeka 118 tower has safely topped out with the completion of the final roof slab after reaching its peak at level 118.

PNB said the tower will reach its full height of at least 644 meters once completed. It is planned to have over 278,709 square meters (three million square feet) of floor area, comprising 154,219 square meters (1.66 million square feet) of net lettable area of office space and 92,903 square meters (one million square feet) of retail space.

Among the tower's features is "The View at 118" observation deck. A Park Hyatt hotel in Malaysia will occupy the top 17 floors of the tower.

Adjacent to the building are retail opportunities, 1.6 hectares (four acres) of greenery and open spaces, as well as three residential towers encircling the office tower.

The tower is currently 81 percent completed, according to PNB, with the installation of the glass façade in progress at Level 108.

The Merdeka 118 development sits within the historical enclave of downtown Kuala Lumpur and the tower overlooks two national historical landmarks — Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara.

Completion is planned for 2022.
