Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) has submitted revised plans which take the boutique hotel out of the St. Michael’s tower scheme in Manchester, to be replaced with more office space.

In another switch, the US firm behind New York’s One World Trade Center will no longer be delivering the 40-story skyscraper backed by ex-footballer Gary Neville’s company, Relentless, according to Architects’ Journal.  Instead, there has been a reversal of roles, with the original architect, Hodder + Partners, now in negotiations to be novated to oversee the project’s construction.

SOM’s recently submitted section 73 planning revisions ditch plans for a 29-bedroom boutique hotel in the Neoclassical former Bootle Street Police Station. The 1937 building will be used to increase the amount of office space by 3,259 square meters.

The requested alterations to the already consented plans are the latest in a series of reshuffles on the mixed-use project, which will create 20,529 square meters of retail space as well as provide 181 apartments and another 191-bedroom hotel.
