ONYX Hospitality Group announced on 16 January 2020 the signing of a management agreement with Hangzhou East Bay Headquarters Base Construction Co. Ltd., introducing Amari East Bay Hangzhou, a new project in the Qiantang New Area of Hangzhou. This will be ONYX Hospitality Group’s second Amari hotel in China.

Located along the riverbank area of the Xiasha subdistrict, Hangzhou East Bay is located near the Qiantang River, neighboring an industrial development zone. With the start of the city’s east expansion development strategy and the infrastructure of Greater Jiangdong, the area along the eastern border of Hangzhou is gradually being transformed into one of the city’s major districts.

As one of the key infrastructures in the development zone, East Bay Headquarters Base will be home to enterprise headquarters, creative industries, commercial buildings, conference centers, a water park, and walking streets. The headquarters building, in which the Amari hotel will be located, is situated in the 50-hectare Xiasha Wetland area. The area will aim to attract investments to help drive the development of the region.

Scheduled to open in 2021, Amari East Bay Hangzhou will occupy levels 33 to 47 of the Hangzhou East Bay Headquarters Main Building. The lobby will be on the 47th floor, approximately 200 meters from the ground, with a panoramic view of the Qiantang River and the riverbank wetland.

The hotel will have 316 rooms and will combine contemporary, Thai-inspired design with touches reflecting the art and culture of Hangzhou.
