Shovels hit the ground April 30 at the site of Victoria sur le Parc, on what could be Montreal’s tallest residential skyscraper.

Set to rise 200 meters above the city’s International District, the tower is the latest development by contractor Broccolini on a stretch of Saint-Jacques Street.

The project, located at 700 Saint-Jacques, along with a condominium build at 628 Saint-Jacques and construction on the new National Bank Headquarters at 800 Saint-Jacques, total a $1.3 billion investment by the company.

Robert Beaudry, district councilor for the area and head of economic and commercial development, housing and design at the City of Montreal, said the project will “energize this key area of the business district.”

“The project will optimize land use in the Ville-Marie borough through densification, and by creating a new park that will benefit the entire population,” he added.

Designed by IBI Group and Béïque Legault Thuot Architects, the building will be bordered by a park that will link Victoria sur le Parc to the National Bank Headquarters, which will be located at the intersection of Saint-Jacques Street and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard.

Along with residential units, the tower will house 10 floors of office space and a commercial ground floor.

Work is expected to wrap up in 2023.
