Energy Company Headquarters in Charlotte Progressing on Schedule
In Charlotte, Charlotte Metro Tower is structurally topped out and the building’s unitized curtain wall is well underway.
The 40-story office building reaching to 191 meters will be the new headquarters for Duke Energy. The building, also known as Duke Energy Plaza, will provide approximately 1 million square feet for the energy company which plans to vacate several area buildings to consolidate operations in the new headquarters. The project will also deliver 25,000 square feet of retail space and well as 1,100 parking spaces in seven-level parking structure.
The project broke ground in summer of 2019 and construction is anticipated to complete by the end of 2022 with interior work extending into 2023. The project is being developed by Childress Klein Properties.
The office tower utilizes a tube structure design that combines traditional cast-in-place concrete with precast double tees.
