A development permit application for a 26-story condominium tower on the site of the former Carlton Club — along with an adjacent eight-story rental building — is expected to be submitted to Esquimalt city hall in July 2023.

Developer GMC Projects of Esquimalt wants to redevelop two lots, one at 900 Carlton Terrace, the address of the former nightclub. The other is next door at 900 Esquimalt Road.

The complex is expected to offer one- to three-bedroom suites, including 176 units and 96 rental units in the next building. The developer would provide public amenities including a USD$743,600 (CA$1 million) contribution to affordable housing, a 371-square-meter dog park, two on-site plazas, an improved bus shelter, and street and boulevard improvements. It will also include 232 bike parking stalls, dog amenities, rooms for crafts and music, and other recreational options.
