Construction has begun on Ancora, a residential high-rise in the Collins Wharf precinct at 971 Collins Street. The 28-story building will deliver 312 homes—including one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, townhouses, and penthouses. Over 50 percent of the units have been pre-sold according to developer Lendlease.

The facade features double-glazed glass, an aluminium cladding system, and textured precast concrete with Reckli and brick finishes. Advanced piling and precast methods to streamline construction are being employed and are expected to be completed in 2027.

The structural design transitions from a robust podium to lighter upper floors, with a design influenced by maritime themes. Ancora connects to another residential building called Regatta via a shared podium, granting residents access to joint amenities. The Ancora project includes wharf remediation, raker pile installation, and an extension to Australia Walk, part of Melbourne’s Greenline initiative. Designed to be all-electric, the project is targeting a 5-Star Green Star rating and will also include EV infrastructure and public landscaped spaces. Once complete, the Collins Wharf development will comprise six towers with over 1,800 homes and 5,000 square meters of parks and public space.
