Construction has begun on a new mega-project in Dubai called Peninsula. The project is situated on a small peninsula on the Dubai Canal and will have a built-up area of about 510,000 square meters (5.5 million square feet). Being in the heart of the business district, the development will be within 10 minutes of major city landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai International Financial Centre.

The project will be a mixed-used development and will include residential, commercial offices, retail, leisure, and hospitality. The masterplan for the project has a wide range of building types, from high-rise buildings to low-rise villas and simplexes. These buildings will be spread-out around the peninsula to allow for a generous amount of space for parks, sports facilities, retail, and open spaces.

The whole development is planned to be completed within the next five to seven years. The first phase that has already begun consist of Peninsula One and Peninsula Two, the two high-rise residential buildings. The first phase also includes the construction of the corporate headquarters for Select Group, the developer of the project.
