After a year-long delay due to a construction lender pulling out of the project in March 2020, the redevelopment project at 125 West 57th Street in New York City is moving forward. Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Cain International have completed the acquisition of the Calvary Baptist Church property and will develop a 26-story building totaling approximately 24,155 square meters (260,000 square feet) on the site. The US$130 million buy is part of an overall project cost of US$350 million.

The new 128-meter (420-foot) tall building will deliver 17,187 square meters (185,000 square feet) of Class A office space, the majority of which will have Central Park views. Designed by FX Collaborative, the new building will average 929 square meters (10,000 square feet) per floorplate, with floor to ceiling heights over 4 meters (14 feet.) A full floor of amenity space will provide a lounge and meeting spaces, board room, and over 372 square meters (4,000 square feet) of outdoor common spaces.

Calvary Baptist Church will separately own and occupy the 55-meter-high (180-foot-high) base portion of the building, which will double the amount of space for its congregation. The church will feature a fully accessible auditorium for large worship gatherings, flexible education space for programs, a gymnasium also serving as a Fellowship Hall for church and community functions and a 99-seat studio/chapel for church meetings which was also designed with the local arts community in mind.

Demolition work on the existing building will begin in the fall, with vertical construction to start in early 2022. The building is expected to open in late 2024.
