The soaring Vista Tower, the newest addition to Chicago’s famed skyline, now has a new name: St. Regis Chicago.

The skyscraper also has a new partnership with The Alinea Group, owners of Alinea in Lincoln Park, the Grant Achatz-helmed restaurant that routinely is named one of the best in the world.

Chicagoans haven’t had much time to commit the name Vista Tower or its original Wanda Vista name to memory. The finishing touches on the Jeanne Gang-designed building at 363 E. Wacker Drive are still underway and it’s not yet open.

The building’s first residents are due to move in in December 2020.

The building stands 101 stories tall, making it the third tallest in Chicago behind the Willis (née Sears) Tower and the Trump Tower.

The new partnerships with St. Regis Hotels and Resorts and Alinea Group were announced Wednesday, 25 November 2020 by Magellan Development, the developer of the massive project. St. Regis is part of Marriott International.

St. Regis Hotel will operate a 191-room hotel in the building. It will also offer a fine dining restaurant with an outdoor terrace, another restaurant and lounge overlooking the Chicago River and a Sky Bar with an outdoor terrace.

The building will also include 393 condos that will be called The Residences at The St. Regis Chicago. Owners of those will be the first to move into the building. The hotel is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2021.

Both condo owners and hotel guests will get offerings from the Alinea Group, the development company said Wednesday.

“This is truly a ‘born-in-Chicago’ project, and we are excited to be a part of this amazing architectural wonder,” said Nick Kokonas, co-owner and co-founder of The Alinea Group. “We’ve been in discussions with Magellan for several years to determine how we can best partner on this project, and we look forward to bringing our vision to life.”
