In the wake of a powerful tornado that swept through Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Monday night, 6 May, causing widespread destruction, one iconic landmark remains unscathed. The Price Tower Arts Center, a masterpiece of architectural design by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and the tallest building he completed during his lifetime, emerged from the storm unharmed.

Bartlesville Emergency Management claimed there was extensive damage across the city, including to a hotel, medical park, and residential areas, with several injuries reported. Bartnet, an internet provider, also suffered roof damage and lost its tower. Bartlesville Public Schools canceled classes due to power outages, while Public Service Company of Oklahoma worked to restore electricity.

Despite the destruction, the Price Tower stood firm, a testament to Wright's innovative vision and structural integrity. Recently visited by staff from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) the weekend before the weather event, the tower remains an enduring symbol of architectural excellence.

As emergency response teams continue to assess and address the aftermath of the tornado, Washington County Emergency Management reminds residents to stay clear of affected areas. While the storm caused significant damage to buildings, utilities, and trees, no fatalities or serious injuries have been reported.

Emergency personnel, including police, fire, and street departments, are working tirelessly to assist affected residents and restore normalcy to the community. With recovery efforts underway, Bartlesville officials urge caution against unlicensed contractors and encourage residents to report any suspicious activity.
