The new Silver Tower in the northern district of Brussels, which will begin to accommodate the regional administration in November, will be renamed "Iris Tower", Brussels Minister Sven Gatz, in charge of the Civil Service, announced on Tuesday, 2 November, 2020.

Most of the floors of the Gare du Nord tower are almost ready to accommodate employees of the Brussels Regional Public Service (SPRB) and Brussels Taxation. The relocation of some 2,000 officials from the regional public services for mobility, economy and employment, finance and budget, local authorities, international relations and taxation is planned from November to January 2021.

The construction of the Iris Tower by property developer Ghelamco began in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode at the end of 2018. It will have 32 floors reaching a final height of 137 meters, delivering 40,000 square meters of office spaces. Ghelamco sold its shares last year to German fund Deka Immobilien. The Brussels Region has entered into a lease contract with the owners for a period of 18 years.

"This skyscraper will become a meeting place for many employees and citizens and a new icon in the Brussels skyline", argued Sven Gatz.
