Beijing’s Sunshine Insurance Headquarters Scheduled for 2020 Completion

Images of the under-construction Sunshine Insurance Headquarters in Beijing have been revealed.
Located in downtown Beijing, the 1.3 million-square-foot (120,773-square-meter) tower is set atop a six-story podium, recalling the shape of a lotus flower and containing retail, café, restaurant and entertainment facilities. Sunshine Insurance Headquarters also contains a mix of rentable residential space concentrated on its lower floors, while the upper portions provides single-occupant units.
The top of the building contains an occupiable sphere, which references the hemisphere of classical Chinese architecture and will be lit up at night. Sky gardens will also be visible from the surrounding city. The design is the result of a collaboration between Woods Bagot’s San Francisco and Beijing studios, and is scheduled for a 2020 completion.
Woods Bagot and Sunshine Insurance are building three new towers together, one of which, Sunshine Insurance’s headquarters in Sanya Bay, was completed in March 2018. The remaining two, located in Beijing and Shenzhen, are currently under construction.
