Auckland Skyscraper Elevates a Sense of Place
Plus Architecture recently celebrated the final completion of The Pacifica in Auckland, a residential and hotel building reaching to 178 meters. It is the second-tallest building in New Zealand.
Developers Hengyi and ICON builders began construction on the project at 10-12 Commerce Street began in 2017. The building’s design is inspired by traditional Maori symbols and the glass façade is meant to mirror the nearby harbour and Auckland’s laneways.
The building has 273 apartments. To foster a sense of place for residents, the apartments at the upper levels feature enclosed garden balconies. The floor to ceiling windows are in narrow frames, to provide a sense of enclosure.
Building amenities include lounges, a lap pool, sauna, steam room, spa, gym, media room, library and barbecue terrace.
