183-Meter Mixed-Use Skyscraper Approved in Adelaide
The State Commission Assessment Panel has approved the 183 meter Keystone Tower, a joint venture by Pelligra and the South Australian Freemasons. The 37-story building, located at 245 North Terrace, will rise behind the heritage-listed Grand Lodge, which will eventually be demolished. The skyscraper will house Adelaide’s first Westin Hotel with 236 rooms, office spaces, a business lounge, a function area, a wellness retreat, and a three-level observatory.
The Freemasons will retain use of the lodge, and five levels will be dedicated to the Adelaide Museum of South Australia’s History. This approval comes with conditions, including documentation of the Great Hall before demolition. The project must also be approved by Commonwealth air authorities due to its height, however it has been said that the Adelaide Airport did not oppose the development..
