Sustainable Vertical Urbanism Forum

SHANGHAI - The College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) at Tongji University and CTBUH China co-organized a one-day symposium on Sustainable Vertical Urbanism. The event took place as a key forum of the 2017 International Doctoral School of Future Cities and Architecture, which was hosted by Tongji University from 10 – 22 October. The forum explored future of vertical cities through the lens of various disciplines and dimensions, including urban planning, infrastructure, architecture, structure, and technology.

The Sustainable Vertical Urbanism forum was divided into a morning and an afternoon session. In morning session, Zhenyu Li, Dean, Tongji University - College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP), and CTBUH Chairman David Malott, Founder and CEO, AI. / CEO, SpaceFactory, gave opening speeches. Linxue Li, Professor, Tongji University CAUP, moderated the forum.

Subsequently, three speakers delivered speeches on the topic of sustainable vertical urbanism. Martin Felsen, Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Architecture Program, Illinois Institute of Technology and Co-Founder, UrbanLab; Satoshi Ohashi, Director, Zaha Hadid Architects; CTBUH China Office Director Peng Du, Visiting Assistant Professor, Illinois Institute of Technology, each delivered splendid speeches.

The afternoon session was moderated by Peng Du and featured Prof. Li, and Silas Chiow, Director of SOM China.

After the speech, the forum guests participated in a panel discussion on the topic of sustainable vertical urbanism.
