Is Suburban High-Rise Development in the USA Good Enough? Oak Park, Illinois

Stephen Morales, a candidate for Oak Park's Village Board in April 2021, leads two prominent Oak Parkers in a discussion on the current state of US suburban building development, using Oak Park as the primary case study; Tom Bassett-Dilley, an Oak Park architect responsible for environmentally-conscious buildings such as the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center; and Dr. Antony Wood, CEO of the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, and a professor in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Contentious issues to be addressed include the role of high-rise, high-density development, and the quality of architecture being created, especially in a village that prides itself on the architectural legacy created by Frank Lloyd Wright and others.
