For centuries cities have evolved in response to changing social, economic, political, cultural and health-related conditions. Over the next 50 years, the human population is expected to rise to at least 9.3 billion with more than 70% living in cities. The CTBUH Philadelphia Chapter has assembled a group of experts and thought leaders to discuss, debate, and speculate on how Urban Space will evolve in the aftermath of the COVID-19 Pandemic. CTBUH Philadelphia Chapter Chair Kirk Harman, President and Managing Principal, The Harman Group provides opening remarks and Scott Erdy, Principal, Erdy McHenry Architecture, moderates the five expert panelists in the discussion.

This is a free event, but a donation of US$10 is suggested. Donations directly support the work of three organizations providing relief and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic: Philabundance, World Central Kitchen, and CEPI.

Learning Objectives
1. Through an examination of the greater historical perspective regarding pandemics and their past effects on the urban habitat, participants will be able to adjust the context towards a deeper understanding of current health concerns in the design, use, and maintenance of urban spaces going forward.
2. Participants will be able to theorize as to how future urban spaces can be made to adapt to varying degrees of risk borne from the COVID-19 pandemic through the creation of a tiered approach to general risk-mitigation.
3. By taking stock of the multitude of ad-hoc responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic across multiple design disciplines, participants will be able to describe new strategies for the implementation of safer urban spaces.
4. Participants will be able to investigate multiple strategies for urban mixed-use habitation through sharing knowledge about how alternative models can boost resiliency in cities against future health and well-being related stressors and threats.
