Designing a More Livable City with Henning Larsen

About the Event
What can architects do to keep rapidly growing urban areas livable? How can they create more sustainable cities? Danish architecture firm and CTBUH Member Henning Larsen is among those leading the charge to respond to such challenges. Join CTBUH at the Chicago Architecture Center to hear from one of the firm's partners.

Though their work ranges from small civic buildings to urban megaprojects, Henning Larsen strives for a commitment to social and environmental responsibility in everything they do. One of their most ambitious undertakings to date is the design of a new waterfront downtown in Shenzhen, China—a booming megacity of more than 20 million people. This project and others by Henning Larsen tackle the need for a sustainable and livable city of the future, with an awareness of the strains rapid urbanization is putting on infrastructure and resources. Partner and Design Principal Louis Becker will elaborate on these challenges and share what sets his firm apart.
