EuroCham Tall Building Forum 2024

For its 3rd Edition, the Tall Building Forum was held in two vibrant locations: on the 28th of May in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and on the 30th in the dynamic city of Phnom Penh, Cambodia at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

Led by the Construction Sector Committee of EuroCham Vietnam and co-organized by EuroCham Cambodia, the Tall Building Forum 2024 aimed to provide profound insights into the present and future trends of high-rise buildings in Southeast Asia.

 

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The CTBUH SEA Chapter collaborated on the first Tall Building Forum hosted by EuroCham Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City on 28 May, in collaboration with their Construction Sector Committee. The forum brought together a dynamic crowd to discuss sustainable urban development challenges and opportunities in Vietnam.

The Tall Building Forum 2024 provided profound insights into the present and future trends of high-rise buildings in Vietnam, addressing current issues such as the interplay between tall and small buildings in densely populated areas, sustainable practices in urban high-rise development, and the landscape of affordable housing.

The conference began with a full room with over 170 experts from the construction sector and government entities in attendance. 

CTBUH Chair Shonn Mills opened the event with an inspiring presentation on the future of urban development and tall buildings, highlighting CTBUH initiatives for further engagement.

SEA Chapter Board Member C.J. Chen presented on Merdeka 118, named the tallest building in SEA.

An afternoon session explored the complex task of balancing tall and small buildings in dense cities, exploring their coexistence to understand synergies and tensions.

 

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On Thursday, May 30th, EuroCham Cambodia and its Real Estate and Construction Committee, in collaboration with EuroCham Vietnam’s Construction Committee and CTBUH, organized the third Tall Building Forum at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

The Phnom Penh event focused on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as the city continues to develop its skyline. Experts and government officials discussed several topics highlighting the Cambodian vision for tall building development.

Thank you to our Cambodia regional representative, Michael Cassagnes, and Archetype Group for their role in organizing the event. 

 

The event brough together more than 140 attendees, including local and regional industry experts as well as government representatives.

Award winners of the ‘Future Tall Building Competition’, a model exhibition created by students and hosted as part of the event.

 Highlighting the Cambodian vision for tall building development, the forum was especially valuable due to a keynote address by H.E. Say Samal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.
