CTBUH Hires Terrence (Terry) Ona as New Chief Operating Officer

 

CTBUH is excited to announce that Terrence (Terry) Ona has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. With a career spanning more than 25 years in nonprofit leadership and the architectural and built environment community, Terry brings extensive expertise in governance, risk management, corporate structuring, and technology optimization. His leadership philosophy emphasizes the importance of empowering members and staff as the cornerstone of a thriving organization.
 
Terry’s distinguished career includes 17+ years of leadership at the American Institute of Architects, as well as serving as chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Professional Trade Organizations Committee and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Ethics Committee. He has also contributed significantly to the ASAE as a member of its Certified Association Executive (CAE) Commission. Additionally, as an attorney licensed in multiple jurisdictions, Terry has delivered insightful presentations at global conferences, sharing his knowledge on governance, risk mitigation, and ethics within professional associations.
 
An alumnus of New York University and DePaul University College of Law, Terry’s diverse expertise and passion for the built environment position him to meaningfully drive CTBUH’s mission forward.
