Suzhou IFS Signboard

On Wednesday, 20 June 2018, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) unveiled a commemorative signboard designating Suzhou International Finance Square (Suzhou IFS), which stands at 450 meters (1,476 feet) tall, as the eighth tallest building in mainland China and the tallest building in the Jiangsu province of China. The award ceremony marked Suzhou IFS as the veritable “highest point” in the Jiangsu province.

Suzhou IFS is located in the Hudong CBD of Suzhou Industrial Park, which is the commercial and financial center of Suzhou. Served by convenient public transportation access, the tower is surrounded by luxury hotels, cultural centers, technology companies and financial institution headquarters, making it a beneficial environment for development.

Developed by Wharf China Development Limited, Suzhou IFS overlooks Jinji Lake and is composed of the T1 complex, T2 Lake District office and T3 prime office. The 450-meter (1,476 feet) main tower is five stories underground and 98 stories above ground. A supertall, it is the tallest building in Jiangsu Province and was completed in 2019.

Suzhou IFS, which has a silhouette and flared base that recalls a fish, is derived from the ancient Chinese folk story, "The Carp Has Leapt Through the Dragon’s Gate," which signifies prosperity. The project was built by a number of international companies, including Kohn Pedersen Fox for architectural design, ALT Limited for façade design, WAA for landscape design, WILSON for interior design, and BPI for lighting design. The building also obtained pre-certification for LEED-CS Silver certification from U.S Green Building Council.
