In June 2022, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) confirmed that the International Land-Sea Center will be the "Tallest Building in Chongqing," when it completes towards the beginning of 2024. This certification is based on its Architectural Height of 458.2 meters (1,503 feet), according to CTBUH Height Criteria. The completion of International Land-Sea Center will also likely be the first time any building within Chongqing has surpassed a 400-meter height threshold. Xiangdong Pan, CTBUH China Board, Executive Director and Chief Designer, CityGroup Design Collective CO., LTD, unveiled the certificate recognizing this title, along with Renbo Gong, General Manager, Southwest Branch of the third company of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau and Jun Feng, Vanke (Chongqing) Enterprise Co., Ltd.
Also called Chongqing 100, International Land-Sea Center is located Chongqing International Business District, facing the Jialing River. The design of the tower is meant to express "double happiness," inspired by the meaning of Chongqing's name. The curtain wall area is about 100,000 square meters and the total building volume is more than 500,000 square meters. The building also claims to be equipped with the most elevators in Chongqing, with 69 total cabins, and is also the first building to use double-car elevators in Chongqing.
With a shopping center, class-A office space, the world's highest Banyan Tree Hotel, an observation floor, and a connection to nearby transit, this building could open up possibilities for public interaction and urban growth once complete.
