On 26 October 2022, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) recognized CITYMARK CENTRE, Shenzhen, China, at the “Tallest Building Competed in China in 2022” and “Second Tallest Building Completed in the World in 2022.” This certification was based on its Architectural Height of 388.3 meters (1,274 feet) and a completion date of October 2022, according to CTBUH Height Criteria. In view of the fact that the MERDEKA 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will not be completed in 2022, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) recognized CITYMARK CENTRE, Shenzhen, China, at the “Tallest Building Competed in the World in 2022” . This certification was based on its Architectural Height of 388.3 meters (1,274 feet) , according to CTBUH Height Criteria. 

CITYMARK CENTRE is located at the gate of Sungang, Luohu District, at the southeast corner of the intersection of Hongling North Road and Taoyuan Road, and at the first row of the emerging Hongling financial industry belt, which is a central business ditrict of the Luohu District. This mixed-use building, including office and residential functions, also includes a number ammenities including a “cloud club” and  “administrative hall.” The form of the tower gradually shrinks from bottom to top and as it elegantly extends to the sky the building appears to have soaring wings, a reference to “the spirit and urban temperament of Shenzhen.”

This building was recognized during the China program of the 2022 CTBUH International Conference, themed around “Tall Excellence: Seeking the Ideal in Vertical Urbanism." Find out more about this event here

On behalf of CTBUH, Shasha Wang, Research Associate, CTBUH China Office, presented the official plaque confirming Citymark Centre as the “Tallest Building Competed in China in 2022” and “Second Tallest Building Completed in the World in 2022” to Tianguang Yang, General Manager, Shenzhen CityMark Holdings Co., Ltd.
On October 26, 2022, more than 80 people witnessed the unveiling ceremony, as a part of the CTBUH China event in Shenzhen.
