On December 7, 2012, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's Hong Kong Region held an exclusive insight and tour of the recently completed 442 meter Kingkey 100 Tower in Shenzhen, hosted by CTBUH Hong Kong Representative, Stefan Krummeck, (Director, TFP Farrells).

“A Private View of KK100” featured presentations by those involved in the design and construction of the ninth tallest building in the world (at the time of its completion) and its surrounding development. There were several presentations by members of the project team. Arup Director Paul Tsang spoke about the engineering challenges of the project. Yuji Aoyagi, Project Director at Kingkey Real Estate Development, in charge of the KK100 Development, gave an insight into the completion of the project.

John Low, Principal at Laguarda, presented the design logistics of KKMall. Stephen Ford, General Manager of the St. Regis and VP of Starwood Group South China region talked from an end-user viewpoint on the requirements of choosing exclusive locations for their high-end luxury hotels. Closing out the group, Stefan Krummeck, Design Principal at TFP Farrells, explained the architectural design concept of the building and the master planning of the KK100 Development.

The audience of mainly architects, investors, engineers and developers were also  introduced to the work of the CTBUH. The event was held on the 33rd floor Office Marketing suite that showcases the open span of the floor plate and stunning views over the city of Shenzhen. The fifty invited guests continued discussions over lunch in the adjacent KKMall (part of the overall KK Development with its five residential towers above) and were then given an exclusive tour of the St. Regis Hotel prior to its official opening on December 18. The event concluded with cocktails on the 96th floor Sky lobby bar.
