Kurt Strobel has been working in the field of wind-induced structural dynamics and vibration control for over a decade. With GERB, he has been focused on the application of tuned mass dampers for improving occupant comfort and reducing dynamic loads for tall buildings and towers, long-span floors, and pedestrian bridges. Prior to joining GERB, Strobel was a Director of Engineering with CPP, Inc. where he studied wind-induced loads and responses of all types of structures, including tall buildings, telescopes, solar arrays, launch vehicles and transmission line towers.

Challenging Paradigms in the Wind Engineering Design of Tall Buildings
Roy Denoon & Kurt Strobel, CPP; David Scott, Laing O’Rourke
Over recent years a fairly standard approach has developed in optimizing forms of tall, and particularly supertall and megatall, buildings during design to minimize wind...
