About

Kai Sheng, AIA, is the Founder and President of AKAIA Architecture, and has over 30 years of experience in high-end hospitality, office, residential and mixed-use development. His practice focuses on authentic place-making with designs that respect the distinctive cultural, social, and architectural traditions of each project, be it a low-rise resort hidden in remote mountains or the tallest supertall complex in a metropolis. Formally a partner at BBG, he later established the Archilier Architecture brand. Notable projects Sheng has worked on include the Qingdao Hai Tian Center, Qianhai Venture Capital Tower, St Regis Sanya, Shanghai Peninsula, and a hotel-centric mixed-use development with Le Meridien and Kimpton in Garden Grove, California.
