Abu Dhabi-based developer Imkan has appointed Chinese construction company CNTC as the main contractor for its seven-tower Pixel development, with work due to begin immediately and be completed by the fourth quarter 2021.

Located within the Makers District on Reem Island, Pixel will be an 18-hectare waterfront community comprised of 525 residential units.

The contract agreement was signed by Abu Dhabi Capital Group’s chief executive officer HE Abubaker Seddiq Al Khoori, Dr Hamad Abdulqadir Al-Ali, a board member of Royal Strategic Partners, Imkan CEO Walid El-Hindi, and CNTC’s vice president, Xinrong Xu.

El-Hindi described CNTC as “one of the biggest construction companies in China” and said its agreement with Imkan underscored the UAE’s support of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

He added: “We are looking towards the future. The union of our companies reflects the close relationship the UAE shares with China, a relationship that is only set to grow.”
