Video Interviews – 2010 Awards Symposium

Eight interviews were conducted by CTBUH Special Media Correspondent, Jeff Herzer, in conjunction with the 2010 Awards Symposium at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago on October 21st 2010.


George Downing, Downing, Leeds & Alex Whitbread, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, London

George and Alex discuss the planning and design of their project Broadcasting Place tower in Leeds, UK, which is the CTBUH 2010 Best Tall Building Europe award winner, as well as the Overall winner.

Ron Klemencic, Magnusson Klemencic Engineers, Seattle

Ron Klemencic (a former Chairman of the CTBUH) reflects on the history of the Council, from before his time as Chairman to where the Council is today. He also discusses some of the topical issues in today's practice including BIM and Integrated Project Delivery.

Jim Loewenberg, Magellan Development, Chicago & Bruce Lake, McHugh Construction, Chicago

Jim and Bruce speak about their Aqua Tower project which had recently completed in Chicago and was recognized as a Finalist in the CTBUH 2010 Best Tall Building Americas category.

Abraham Senerman & Patricio Mont, Titanium Inmobiliaria, Santiago

Abraham and Patricio speak about their recently completed Titanium Inmobiliaria Tower project which became the tallest building in Chile on completion, and survived a major earthquake just days after its opening, unscathed.

K. J. Kim, Samsung C & T, Seoul

K. J. speaks about the construction of three of the world’s tallest buildings he has been involved in: Burj Khalifa, Taipei 101, and Petronas Towers.

William Pedersen, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, New York

Mr. Pedersen, recipient of the 2010 CTBUH Lynn S. Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award speaks about his tall buildings career. He talks of recently completed projects such as the Shanghai World Financial Center and the International Commerce Center, Hong Kong, as well as his earlier work.

Richard Cook, Cook + Fox Architects, New York

Richard speaks about the Bank of America Tower project which is the CTBUH 2010 Best Tall Building Americas winner. Richard gives some insights into the architectural design of the project, as well as the environmental strategies that were implemented in this LEED-Platinum building.

Lawrence Pak, HDB, Singapore & Peng Beng Khoo and Belinda Huang, ARC Studio, Singapore

Lawrence, Peng Beng and Belinda speak about their Pinnacle @ Duxton project which is the CTBUH 2010 Best Tall Building Asia & Australasia winner. A public housing project, the project consists of 7 towers connected at three levels, creating public domain in the sky.
