The CTBUH’s fifth Research Seed Funding Initiative has received 30 proposals from applicants at research institutions, universities, and private companies worldwide.

The research seed funding program is sponsored this year by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, through the CTBUH 2016 International Conference Gold + Research Seed Funding Sponsorship Package.

Just like the programs before, CTBUH will award $20,000 to assist winning researchers in the development of projects to a level mature enough to secure additional, more significant, funding from various sources – in conjunction with the Council.

2016 Funding Sponsor

The winner of the grant will be chosen through a two-stage judging process by the CTBUH Peer Review Committee and representatives from the program sponsor. As an added incentive, the principal investigator of the winning research team will be recognized at the CTBUH 2016 Conference held in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, China, from October 16–21, 2016.

The list of this year’s applicants includes researchers from universities and research institutions located in the USA, China, Australia, and France among other countries, as well as several internationally renowned architecture, engineering, and industrial firms.

Applicant have already submitted high-quality proposals reflective of the vast range of disciplines involved in the critical aspects of planning, building, and management of tall buildings, including: urbanism, wind engineering, geodesic networking, architectural computation, and more.

The CTBUH 2016 International Research Seed Funding Initiative remains a fundamental linchpin in the advancement of not only CTBUH’s Research Division, but tall building research in general. Ultimately, the results of the awarded research project will be published as part of the new CTBUH Research Report publications series.
