VENICE – The CTBUH’s fourth Research Seed Funding Initiative has received 28 proposals from applicants at research institutions, universities, and private companies from around the globe.
The research seed funding program is sponsored this year by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, through the Gold + Research Seed Funding Sponsorship Package of the CTBUH New York Conference.
2015 Funding Sponsor
As in the previous editions, CTBUH will award $20,000 to help the winning research team develop an innovative research idea with the goal of bringing it to a level mature enough to attract additional funding from various sources. The winner of the grant will be chosen through a two-step judging process by the CTBUH peer review committee and representatives from the sponsor of the program. The principal investigator of the winning team will be recognized during the CTBUH 2015 International Conference, to be held in New York from October 26-30, 2015.

The list of this year’s applicants includes researchers from universities and research institutions located in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and Malaysia among other countries, as well as several internationally renowned architecture, engineering, and industrial firms.

This year, many high-quality proposals reflect the vast range of disciplines involved in the various aspects of planning, building, and managing a tall building including fire safety, vertical transportation, urbanism, structural engineering, use of natural materials and so on.

The CTBUH 2015 International Research Seed Funding Initiative continues to be a key milestone for the advancement of CTBUH’s Research Division. Ultimately, the results of the awarded research project will be published as part of the new CTBUH Research Report publications series, similarly to the recently published research on Bosco Verticale in Milan.
