The CTBUH Tall Buildings Reference Book and CTBUH Wind Tunnel Testing Technical Guide will be launched during a special breakfast session on Day 2 of the CTBUH London Conference June 12th, with Taylor & Francis Publishers, and the kind sponsorship of RWDI.

These two books represent major accomplishments for the Council.

CTBUH Tall Buildings Reference Book

The 512-page CTBUH Tall Buildings Reference Book addresses all the issues of building tall, from the procurement stage through the design and construction process to new technologies and the building’s contribution to the urban habitat. A case study section highlights the latest, the most innovative, the greenest and the most inspirational tall buildings being constructed today. A team of over fifty experts in all aspects of building tall have contributed to the making of the Tall Buildings Reference Book, creating an unparalleled source of information and inspiration for architects, engineers and developers.

CTBUH Wind Tunnel Testing
Technical Guide

Tall buildings are subjected to extreme wind events during their lives. Standard code often neglects the special conditions that affect tall buildings, such as crosswind excitation and aerodynamic instability. Wind tunnel tests are the most accurate way to account for these conditions. The CTBUH Wind Tunnel Testing Guide sets forth general guidelines for wind tunnel tests, as they apply to tall buildings, in a format that is useful to building professionals and regulatory authorities involved in tall buildings, as well as wind specialists. It is not intended to be a detailed manual of practice. Instead, it describes best practices and make it easier to compare results from different wind consultants.

The 2013 CTBUH Conference is being held June 11-13 at The Brewery in London. The book launch event will be during the Day 2 morning breakfast (Wednesday June 12th, 8:00-9:00am). More information on the conference can be found here:
