The final steel beam was installed on China’s soon-to-be tallest building, Shanghai Tower, with the skyscraper reaching its designed height of 632 meters. The 137-story tower is expected to open in the middle of 2015. Read more.

Topping out ceremonies for the Shanghai Tower were held in the Jujiazui financial hub of Shanghai on August 2. The ¥15 billion (US$2.4 billion) tower, whose concrete core is now complete, designed by Gensler, will measure 632 meters (2,073 feet) and feature the world's fastest elevators, traveling the building's entire height in one minute. JH Snyder's The Vermont project topped out in Los Angeles last week, on Thursday, June 27. The 464-unit project features 23- and 29-story towers, 40,000 square feet (3,700 square meters) of retail, as well as a quarter-acre central courtyard and a sky lobby on the seventh floor. Read more.

A ceremony marking the topping-out of The Leadenhall Building was held on Tuesday, June 18, attended by Boris Johnson, Mayor of London. Construction on the 75-story Mercury City Tower in Moscow has surpassed the height of The Shard as the structure topped out at 339 meters this week. The 306-meter Shard will be the tallest building in Europe when it is completed next year. Read more.
