TELUS Launches Sky Tower by BIG

TELUS, one of Canada's largest telecommunications companies, is set to begin construction on a 58-story tower in Calgary's downtown core. The TELUS Sky tower, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), will incorporate office space, retail stores and 341 residential rental suites. Read more.


Q22 Tower in Poland Inspired by Quartz Crystals

Polish developer Echo Investment has announced that in September it will begin construction of a new 39-story office project in Warsaw. The PLN500 million (US$148 million) Q22 scheme will be built on the site of the former Mercure Hotel, which was demolished earlier this year. Read more.


Chinese Company Launches California Tower

Tishman Speyer and China Vanke have broken ground for LUMINA, a mixed-use project at Main and Folsom streets in downtown San Francisco, near the waterfront Transbay area. Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal says the project to build the world's future tallest skyscraper in Jeddah is progressing as planned. The prince made the announcement at the fourth board meeting of the Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), the company set up to develop the 1-kilometer (3,280-foot) Kingdom Tower. Read more.


Saudi Prince Looks to Pursue Another Supertall

Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal announced that plans to build the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia are on schedule, taking the opportunity to express interest in building a higher tower in another city, perhaps as tall as one mile (1.6 kilometers). Porsche Design Launches Landmark Tower
