Soon-to-be-Launched Dallas Arts District Tower is First of Three

Dallas law firm Jackson Walker has rented just over 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of space in a new office tower going up in downtown Dallas, joining accounting firm KPMG and UMB Bank as lead tenants in the 18-story, 500,000-square foot (46,000-square meter) high-rise, to be called KPMG Plaza. Kansas City to Get Tall Residential Infusion

Cordish Cos. plans to launch a 25-story luxury-apartment skyscraper in downtown Kansas City as the first in a series of four residential towers in the city. The $79 million One Power & Light building is scheduled to begin construction this year, with completion set for 2015. Read more.

Newcastle Hastens Gold Coast Tower

Chicago-based real estate investment firm Newcastle Limited has announced imminent plans to begin constructing a 35-story building in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. The tower will feature a combination of studio, convertible, one- and two-bedroom apartment units. Read more.

Latest SkyHouse Project Launched in Dallas

The Novare Group and Batson-Cook Development Co. have broken ground on SkyHouse Dallas, the brand's latest apartment development. When completed, in about a year, the 24-story property will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom units with floor-to-ceiling glass. Read more.

Demolition to Clear the Way for 181 Fremont

Demolition work has begun on two buildings at 181 Fremont St. in San Francisco, making space for the tower that will replace the pair. Developer Jay Paul Co. plans to build a 54-story tower which, at 805 feet (246 meters) could be the third-tallest building in San Francisco upon completion.Read more.

One Blackfriars is Underway

Construction has reportedly begun on the Ian Simpson-designed tower at One Blackfriars Road, World Architecture News reports. Developed by St. George, the 52-story tower will include 274 luxury apartments, retail and restaurant space, a boutique hotel and a landscaped piazza. Read more.

Atkins Launches Baoneng Shenyang Project

Construction has begun on the Atkins-designed, ₤1 billion (US$1.6 billion) mixed-use Baoneng Shenyang Global Financial Centre in Shenyang, China, which consists of two supertall towers. The 565-meter tower, named Pearl of the North, is poised to become the tallest building in Shenyang once complete. Read more.

Vista Land Launches New High-rise Complex

Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. has launched its high-rise project in Mindanao, located in Cagayan de Oro's central business district. Brookfield to Launch Western Canada's Tallest Building

Brookfield Office Properties will begin construction in September of a 247-meter (810-foot) skyscraper in downtown Calgary, the company announced in a press release. The Brookfield Place Calgary project will ultimately include 2.4 million square feet (223,000 square meters) of space, including offices, restaurants and retail. Read more.

Foundations have reportedly been laid for the SOHO Hailun Plaza in Shanghai, designboom reports. Designed by UNStudio, the development features a 33-story tower as its centerpiece, surrounded by a series of mixed-use low-rise buildings arranged to accommodate pedestrian traffic. Read more.

TELUS Launches Sky Tower by BIG

TELUS, one of Canada's largest telecommunications companies, is set to begin construction on a 58-story tower in Calgary's downtown core. The TELUS Sky tower, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), will incorporate office space, retail stores and 341 residential rental suites. Read more.

Q22 Tower in Poland Inspired by Quartz Crystals

Polish developer Echo Investment has announced that in September it will begin construction of a new 39-story office project in Warsaw. The PLN500 million (US$148 million) Q22 scheme will be built on the site of the former Mercure Hotel, which was demolished earlier this year. Read more.

Chinese Company Launches California Tower

Tishman Speyer and China Vanke have broken ground for LUMINA, a mixed-use project at Main and Folsom streets in downtown San Francisco, near the waterfront Transbay area. Kingdom Tower Officially Underway and On Schedule

Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal says the project to build the world's future tallest skyscraper in Jeddah is progressing as planned. The prince made the announcement at the fourth board meeting of the Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), the company set up to develop the 1-kilometer (3,280-foot) Kingdom Tower. Read more.

Saudi Prince Looks to Pursue Another Supertall

Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal announced that plans to build the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia are on schedule, taking the opportunity to express interest in building a higher tower in another city, perhaps as tall as one mile (1.6 kilometers). Porsche Design Launches Landmark Tower

Porsche Design Group (PDG) has broken ground on its 60-story landmark "ultra-luxury" tower in Miami. The skyscraper, which represents PDG's first foray into residential real estate, has reportedly sold 50 percent of the 132 units, already amounting to more than $400 million in sales. Read more.

Russia has re-launched the Moscow-City development in an attempt to draw international business to the city. The real estate development, which has suffered a series of setbacks and delays since its launch in 2004, is home to Mercury City Tower, which will soon become Europe's tallest building upon completion. Construction Begins on Taipei's 'Jungle' Skyscraper

Agora Garden Tower, a twisting skyscraper with an inhabitable "jungle," is now under construction in Taipei. The Agora, designed by Vincent Callebaut Architecture (VCA), will feature an orchard, a vegetable garden, space for aromatic and medicinal plants and a compost and rainwater capture system. Baccarat Announces NYC Tower

The fine crystal glassware company Baccarat is launching a hotel and condo complex in a 50-story SOM-designed tower in midtown Manhattan. The $523 million luxury hotel and residential skyscraper will rise over W. 53rd street by the end of next year. Read more.

The henna-inspired skyscraper under construction in Mumbai is on track to reach completion by 2015, eVolo reports in an article featuring the tower. The WS Atkins-designed Namaste Tower was created to signify the burgeoning economic and cultural significance of India. Read more.

Seven Bryant Park Breaks Ground

On Monday, developers launched construction of 7 Bryant Park, a 28-story steel and glass tower located on the corner of New York's 40th Street and Sixth Avenue. The Pei Cobb Freed & Partners-designed project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2015, according to the Commercial Observer. Read more.

Construction Begins on San Francisco's 350 Mission Tower

After the confirmation of its anchor tenant, construction has begun on San Francisco's first new high-rise office tower in five years, 350 Mission Street. Software company Salesforce will rent the entire 27-story building directly across the street from the future Transbay Tower. Read more.
