Construction Begins on Taipei's 'Jungle' Skyscraper

Agora Garden Tower, a twisting skyscraper with an inhabitable "jungle," is now under construction in Taipei. The Agora, designed by Vincent Callebaut Architecture (VCA), will feature an orchard, a vegetable garden, space for aromatic and medicinal plants and a compost and rainwater capture system. Baccarat Announces NYC Tower

The fine crystal glassware company Baccarat is launching a hotel and condo complex in a 50-story SOM-designed tower in midtown Manhattan. The $523 million luxury hotel and residential skyscraper will rise over W. 53rd street by the end of next year. Read more.

Namaste Tower on Track

Seven Bryant Park Breaks Ground

On Monday, developers launched construction of 7 Bryant Park, a 28-story steel and glass tower located on the corner of New York's 40th Street and Sixth Avenue. The Pei Cobb Freed & Partners-designed project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2015, according to the Commercial Observer. Read more.

Construction Begins on San Francisco's 350 Mission Tower

After the confirmation of its anchor tenant, construction has begun on San Francisco's first new high-rise office tower in five years, 350 Mission Street. Software company Salesforce will rent the entire 27-story building directly across the street from the future Transbay Tower. Read more.

Singapore Launches Seven Zaha Hadid Towers

Construction has begun on Singapore's largest residential development, the Zaha Hadid-designed d'Leedon condominium tower complex. The seven tower development will reportedly cost £1.1 billion (US$1.6 billion) and is scheduled to be completed in 2015. Read more.

Kenya Launches 'Popup City'

In January, Kenya launched its Konza Technology City, a $14.4 billion "popup city" located 40 miles from Nairobi. Nicknamed the "African Silicon Savannah," Konza was master planned by SHoP Architects and is part of Kenya's Vision 2030 plan. Read more.

Spark Launches Pair of Malaysian Towers

International architecture and design consultancy Spark has launched construction of a pair of towers in Malaysia. The Arte S residential towers, which will be the tallest in the city of Georgetown, are located at the base of Bukit Gambir mountain on Penang Island in the Indian Ocean off the western coast of Malaysia. Construction workers atop One World Trade Center today hoisted into place the first section of a spire that will extend the building to its full architectural height of 1,776 feet.
