New York-based developer Gary Barnett has filed building permits for a 1,550-foot (472-meter) tower at 225 West 57th Street, which would be one of the city's tallest upon completion. Construction equipment is already at the site, where demolition of a grocery store will make way for the skyscraper, according to the New York Observer.

The 88-story building will be occupied by a six-story Nordstrom's, a hotel and 223 residential units, the paper reports.
Mr. Barnett is also developing One57, which has topped out.
