AvalonBay Communities Inc. has expanded plans for a residential tower at TD Garden in Boston. The 38-story Nashua Street Residences tower will now contain 503 apartments, 140 more than in a previously approved 37-story version of the apartment building.
"We recognize the supply of housing in the neighborhood is increasing, but at the end of the day our building and others will completely transform this area into a more residential, 24-7 kind of place," Scott Dale, a senior vice president at AvalonBay, told the Boston Globe.
The developers also added a "two-story, open-air pedestrian arcade lined with retail space and amenities cutting through the center of the Nashua Street Residences project," according to local media.
The project has been submitted to new reviews by the Zoning Board of Appeal.
AvalonBay hopes to start construction next fall.
