Foster & Partners won the competition to redesign 425 Park Avenue, which will be built on the current site of a 55-year-old office tower on a prime site. The winning concept design is scheduled to begin construction in 2015.

The preliminary conceptual design by Mr. Foster was chosen for its common areas throughout the building, where occupants can gather informally, according to the New York Times.

Mr. Foster was one of four Pritzker Prize-winning architects short-listed for the 425 Park Avenue commission. The others were Zaha Hadid of Zaha Hadid Architects, Rem Koolhaas of OMA, and Richard Rogers of Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners.
